If you’re a bilingual teacher, you know it can be difficult to find quality Spanish books for your students! I’ve always taught in the primary grades because teaching reading is my passion. One year, I accepted a position to teach second grade at a school with a Spanish immersion program in its very first years. I would be teaching the very FIRST group of students in the program – who started in kindergarten and were now coming into second grade.
Setting up a new Spanish classroom library from scratch was a challenge! I made a trip to the local library every weekend to check out new books for my students to read in class. Luckily, there wasn’t a limit on the number of children’s books I could check out and they had a great variety! My school purchased some titles to add to the classroom library, but I had to do some hunting to find Spanish leveled readers.
Your know your students need a variety of “just right” leveled books to read throughout the school year. Ideally, you would have a large range of leveled readers. That way, all students can read books at their instructional level with you for guided reading. Furthermore, they can read at their independent level during school or at home (if you send them home for practice).
If you’re just building up your classroom library like I was, you need options and ideas for where to find Spanish leveled books to teach guided reading.

Here are some excellent sites to check out for Spanish and bilingual leveled readers for your guided reading!
And by the way, if you’re a parent like me and would like to have some leveled books at home, these sites could be good for you, too! Definitely check out Reading A-Z for a 2-week FREE trial. You’ll be able to print Spanish books to use over and over at home. Scholastic’s Spanish readers are wonderful additions to a home library as well.
